Consul General Fabien Fieschi visits Verrillon factory
Fabien Fieschi, the new Consul General of France in Boston, recently visited the Grafton, MA factory of Verrillon, Inc., a company founded in 2000 by French citizen Abdel Soufiane that designs and manufactures specialty optical fibers and cabled solutions. Consul General Fieschi visited the Grafton factory to learn more about Verrillon’s successful manufacturing process.
As Founder, President/CEO and Chief Technical Officer of Verrillon, Dr. Soufiane is an established research scientist with more than 15 US and international patents issued. A true success story, Verrillon has raised over $45MM to date, due to Soufiane’s skilled management of the company as well as his commitment to monitoring all technical and manufacturing aspects of the business. Today Verrillon supplies specialty optical fibers and components to firms in the oil and gas, military, industrial and communications markets.
Dr. Soufiane received his Ph.D. in Solid State Chemistry from the University of Rennes, France, and after arriving in the United States he was a research scientist at Iowa State University, where he won the R&D 100 Award for his work with optical fibers. Later in his career, Dr. Soufiane was Director of Materials Development at Full Spectrum Inc, and Manager of Advanced Development and Applications Engineering at SpecTran Corporation.
After raising the initial funding in early 2000, Dr. Soufiane launched Verrillon and developed it to become the leader in Harsh Environment Optical Fibers.
Verrillon was recently acquired by America Fujikura Ltd., a division of Fujikura, Japan.
