The Hermione sails to New England!

The Hermione will stop in Newport, Rhode Island, Boston, Massachusetts, and Castine, Maine. During each of these stops, there will be events and celebrations honoring the arrival of this magestic ship. Be sure to stop in to see the vessel up close, and enjoy some of the many activities. A schedule of each stop is listed below.

Traveling Exhibition and Community Heritage Village
Boston Conservancy Greenway, across from Rowes Wharf and the Boston Harbor Hotel.

Traveling Exhibition. A photographic panel display tracing the history of the Hermione’s reconstruction and of the young Lafayette’s critical role in the American Revolution.
Heritage Village. Historic ship building crafts from New England and from Rochefort, including the rope making and sail building artisans of the Hermione. Also featured are demonstrated talks on French seaman’s uniforms of the late 18th century... civilian re-enactors, uniformed regiments and fife and drum corps...music groups including the music of colonial Boston at the time of Lafayette (Colonial Music Institute)...sea shanty-singers from Gloucester...tourism and local food displays from the Poitou-Charentes region of France, where the Hermione was reconstructed.
