
Christophe Guilhou was born on November 16th, 1962 in Lille (France). He graduated from “Sciences Po Paris” and the “Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales” (Arabic).
He is married and father of three children.
From 1992 to 1993, he was appointed to the department of African Affairs as desk officer, speechwriter, writer in charge of Nigeria, Cameroon and Benin.
In 1993, he worked at the department of the United Nations and International Organizations in charge of health and narcotics issues.
Two years later, in 1995, he joined the Embassy of France in United Arab Emirates as First secretary where he stayed 4 years.
In 1999, was appointed first counselor at the France Embassy in Syria.
In 2002, he returned to Paris where was appointed Diplomatic Advisor to the Health Minister, Professor Jean-François Mattéi.
Afterwards, he returned to the Minister of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director in charge of the economic affairs in the United Nations and International Organizations Department in 2004.
In 2005, he was appointed Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Michel Barnier, in charge of North Africa, Middle East and United Nations affairs.
In 2006, he was confirmed in this post by the new incoming Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy.
From 2006 to 2009, he served as deputy permanent representative at the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in Geneva.
He took up his post as Consul General of France in Boston on August 24th, 2009.
